Choose Role


Hi there,

When creating Customer on Order why do you allow the user to choose a 'Role'. Surely it should be Customer by default with no option to change.

The problem is, the current way, allowing the users to have a choice, they are able to create users with roles with more privileges than their current role.

How can I disable the ability to select a Role?

We are busy working on this and should have a solution soon to turn off the role selector.

I am pleased to hear you are already working on this issue. Is there any time estimates for this? As I can't really use this plugin until this issue is sorted with the risk that the users will create an account with higher privileges.

It surely cannot take too long as it is to remove a function?

We have removed the ability for user's to create roles with more abilities than their own.  Please update.

Brilliant stuff, thanks for releasing an update so soon.

Unfortunately I am still facing the same issue. I have used User Role Editor to create a custom support rep role. When they go to create a User it is giving them the option to choose 'Shop Manager' - technically this is actually a higher privileged user.

How come you are keeping the option to choose a role? Why not default it to customer and hide this option completely?

Thanks for pointing our attention here - you do have a point regarding custom role types. In which case we may well do as you have suggested and disable role-type setting, unless explicitly enabled. We'll release an update soon.

Appreciate your response. Looking forward to this update as soon as possible as I still cannot use plugin in the fear that the staff may create higher privileged accounts.

Also - is it possible to include options to hide 'Set Username (optional)' & '

Because the username will always be customer email & we will always send the registration email to customer. By hiding these, it will ensure the staff cannot make a mistake when entering data.

Furthermore, can 'Create Customer' be hidden when viewing existing orders and only visible when creating a new order via 'Add Order'?
